Number of firefighters involved continues to be downsized.

Firefighters continue to close in on full containment of the Alisal brush fire in Santa Barbara County.

It's burned just over 17,250 acres of land in the Santa Ynez Mountains and along the Gaviota Coast. Firefighters have been able to keep the fire from growing in size for the last few days.

The blaze is at 93% containment as of Tuesday afternoon. Firefighters are still working on putting in fire lines on some rugged mountain areas on the northwestern side of the fire.

With the fire in the mop-up phase, the fire command staff is continuing to release crews. Just under a thousand people are still involved in the firefighting effort, down from a peak of more than 1,700. The fire started October 11 near Alisal Reservoir. The cause is still under investigation.
