Containment of Alisal wildfire up to 80%

All evacuation orders have now been lifted, and containment is up to 80% for the massive wildfire which started a week ago in Santa Barbara County.

The Alisal Fire has burned just over 17,250 acres of land in the Santa Ynez Mountains, and along the Gaviota Coast. The amount of acreage burned has shown very little growth in the last few days.

Crews have focused on tracking down scattered hot spots. With the fire moving into the mopup phase, hundreds of firefighters have been sent home. About 1300 people are still involved in the effort.

Motorists using Highway 101 between Goleta and Buellton are being cautioned to drive carefully throough the burn area, because there are still fire crews working along parts of the highway.
