Highway 101 reopened Thursday night, after being closed since Monday afternoon by the Alisal wildfire.

Highway reopened at 6 p.m. Thursday.

After being closed for more than three days by the massive Alisal wildfire, Highway 101 has been reopened from Goleta to Highway 1.

The CHP reopened it just after six Thursday night. Officers are asking people to drive carefully though the fire zone, because there are fire crews still working on hot spots along parts of the highway.

The latest numbers for the fire show that it’s burned just over 16,800 acres of land, and is at 11% containment.

Firefighters took advantage of the drop in wind Thursday to use air tankers and helicopters to hit the blaze hard. Full containment has been predicted for October 25th.

Santa Ana winds are in the forecast for parts of Ventura and Los Angeles Counties Friday and Saturday, with elevated brush fire danger. However, the wind isn't expected to impact Santa Barbara County.
