A weekly program to provide food to those in need in Ventura County kicks off October 15th in Camarillo.

Distribution will take place regularly on Fridays in Camarillo.

A food distribution program for those in need is set to kick off Friday in Ventura County.

The Pleasant Valley Recreation & Park District is sponsoring the Friday giveaways at the Senior Center in Camarillo. Low and moderate income Ventura County residents who meet federal guidelines can come pick up a free bag of food.

The giveaway is being underwritten by grants from the City of Camarillo, and the federal government, in partnership with Food Share of Ventura County. It's a new version of a program which had been operated by the Senior Center.

The drive-through giveaways will take place from noon to 2 p.m. on Fridays. There is a form you must fill out (click here) and bring with you to receive the food.
