Police say South Coast woman armed with knife shot when she charged at officer

Simi Valley Police investigators say a woman armed with a knife was shot, and wounded when she advanced on an officer Tuesday night.

Simi Valley Police say woman is expected to recover from her injuries.

Police say a Ventura County woman was shot and wounded after she charged at an officer with a knife. It happened Tuesday night in Simi Valley.

Officers were called to a convenience store on East Los Angeles Avenue by reports of a fight involving two women, with witnesses saying one of them was armed with a knife.

When officers arrived in the area, they say they tried to contact the woman, but that she charged one of them with a knife.

Shots were fired, and the woman was wounded. The 31-year-old Simi Valley resident is reported to be in stable condition at a hospital.
