The City of Carpinteria is holding series of public meetings.

One of the latest cities on the Central and South Coasts to transition from at large, to in-person city council elections has started the public process of creating council districts.

The City of Carpinteria is creating five City Council districts. The goal is to develop the maps by next spring, so they can be implemented for the November 2022 City Council elections.

A number of cities in the region have already made the shift, or are in the process of doing it. The changes are intended to improve minority representation on city councils.

Three public meetings are set to take place during the next week. People can take part virtually, or in person at Carpinteria City Hall. Information on meeting
