SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carries payload of 51 small satellites.

It was a spectacular sight Monday visible along much of the Central and South Coasts.

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from Vandenberg Space Force Base at 8:55 p.m., carrying a payload of 51 small satellites into orbit. The satellites are part of a network intended to provide high speed internet access to remote areas of the planet.

A few minutes after liftoff, the reusable booster rocket successfully landed on a barge in the Pacific Ocean. It's the tenth time that this specific booster has been used for a flight, reinforcing the reliability of the Falcon 9 rockets.
