Detectives say a man was hit on head with the weapon, but is expected to recover.

Investigators say a South Coast man was seriously injured, but is expected to recover, after being attacked with a sword on Monday afternoon.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies were called to a Goleta home by reports of a possible stabbing. They found a man who had been struck in the head by a sword. Fortunately, the sword was unsharpened, so the blow wasn't fatal.

The victim told deputies the attacker was his roommate. Officers tried to get Halbert Rodriguez to surrender, but he refused to come out of the house.

SWAT officers and a crisis intervention team were called out, but it was the 26-year-old man's mother who finally convinced him to come outside, where he was arrested. Rodriguez is facing an attempted murder charge.
