Latest Figures Show Slight Unemployment Drop On Central, South Coasts

The unemployment rate at the state level held steady for July 2021, but dropped on the Central and South Coasts.

New jobless numbers show no change at state level.

After a slight increase in June, unemployment numbers dipped slightly in July on the Central and South Coasts.

Ventura County posted a 6.4% jobless rate in July, down slightly from 6.5% in June. Santa Barbara County dipped month-to-month from 5.9% to 5.8%. And, San Luis Obispo County showed the largest improvement, going from 5.9% unemployment in June to 5.7% in July.

Statewide, the month-to-month jobless rate held steady at 7.6%. By comparison, because of the pandemic the state's unemployment topped 13% in June of 2020.
