COVID-19 numbers are surging again on the Central and South Coasts.

More than 80 people are currently in region's hospitals as a result of COVID-19.

The number of new COVID-19 cases on the Central and South Coasts continues to surge, with hospitalizations up in parts of the region.

83 people are reported to be in the region’s hospitals as a result of the virus.

Ventura County is reporting 61 cases in its hospitals, the highest number in months. Santa Barbara County has 17, and San Luis Obispo County five. But, the total is still only a fraction of the winter surge, which at one point threatened to overwhelm some of the region's hospitals with more than 500 patients.

Most of those who are seriously ill are unvaccinated.

A growing number of the diagnosed cases are the COVID-19 delta variant.
