Authorities say they are investigating what appears to be the suicide of a Santa Barbara County Jail inmate.
Deputies doing a routine cell check at the main jail Saturday afternoon reported finding Kean Ardie San Juan Pinon hanging from a bedsheet. The 35-year-old man was alone in his cell at the time.
Staff members immediately started medical treatment, but the Santa Maria man died about an hour later at a hospital.
He had been booked into the jail July 12th for a burglary charge, as well as for some probation violations. The Sheriff’s Office is conducting a full investigation, with an autopsy planned.
