(State EDD graphic)

Remains steady month-to-month statewide

There’s been a spike in unemployment on the Central and South Coasts.

The latest figures show the jobless rate in Ventura County went from 5.8% in May to 6.4% in June. In Santa Barbara County, unemployment increased from 5.4% to 5.9%. And, San Luis Obispo County also showed a surge, moving from 5.2% in May to 5.8% in June.

There was no change in the statewide figure, which held at 7.7% from month to month. But, it’s a major improvement from June of 2020, when thanks to the pandemic California’s unemployment stood at 14.1%.
