CHP officers say driver arrested on vehicular manslaughter, DUI charges

A Ventura County man has been arrested is facing manslaughter and DUI charges following a car crash which left one person dead, and a second seriously injured.

It happened at about 3:30 a.m. yesterday, in Ventura. A southbound car was getting off Highway 101 at the West Main Street offramp when it went of the road. It rolled down a dirt embankment.

A passenger in the front seat of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. CHP investigators identified him as Andrew Felix Mejia of Moorpark. A passenger in the rear seat was seriously injured.

The man identified as the driver, Arnulfo Rodriguez Junior, was arrested. Officers say the 25-year-old Moorpark man is facing felony gross vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence charges.
