Santa Barbara County Community Gets New Public Works Director

Key post oversees $150 million dollar plus budget

A South Coast city is getting a new Public Works Director.

Clifford Maurer will oversee the City of Santa Barbara’s largest department, which has a $150 million dollar plus annual budget, and nearly 300 employees. Maurer was chosen from a pool of more than 50 candidates after a nationwide search.

He’s currently the Director of Public Services & Engineering for the City of Coronado. The post is a key one for the city, because the director manages everything from the city’s water, and wastewater systems to street maintenance.

Lance Orozco has been News Director of KCLU since 2001, providing award-winning coverage of some of the biggest news events in the region, including the Thomas and Woolsey brush fires, the deadly Montecito debris flow, the Borderline Bar and Grill attack, and Ronald Reagan's funeral.
