New Numbers Show Continued Unemployment Dip On Central, South Coasts

State also shows slight jobless drop

Unemployment is continuing to drop on the Central and South Coasts.

Just-released state statistics show Ventura County’s jobless rate went from 6.1% in April to 5.8% in May. Santa Barbara County saw a dip from 5.9% to 5.4%. And, San Luis Obispo County dropped from a 5.5% unemployment rate in April to 5.2% in May.

Statewide, the jobless number dipped one-tenth of a percent, going from 8% in April to 7.9% in May. The state added more than 100,000 jobs in the last month. But, the state still has one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation.
