Police Say Ventura County Man Arrested After Road Rage Shooting

Victim Says Man Shot Window Out Of His Car; No one hurt

A Ventura County man is facing multiple charges after police say he shot out the back window of someone’s car in a road rage incident. It happened just after 2 Thursday morning in Simi Valley. A man told police he was westbound on Highway 118 when another vehicle tried to race him.

The victim got off the freeway at First Street, and the man in the other car followed. The Moorpark man told police he stopped, and there was an argument. Police say the second man then pulled out a gun.

The victim got back in his car, but told police as he was driving away, there was a gunshot which shattered his rear window. The man was unhurt, and called police.

Officers tried to stop the car, but the driver led them on a chase on eastbound Highway 118. He finally pulled over, and surrendered near Rocky Peak. Police say they arrested Antonio Mendoza of Simi Valley for assault with a firearm, evading of a police officer and possession of methamphetamine.
