Suspected Human Smuggling Boat Found On South Coast

Dozens of life vests found at scene

Authorities are investigating the discovery of a boat in Ventura County which they think was used to smuggle people into the United States.

It was found just after 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies say people reported seeing the boat on the beach at Mussel Shoals, which is just off of Highway 101 near La Conchita. Deputies say they saw a number of people get into waiting vehicles, and leave the area.

No one was there when officers reached the scene. They found the boat and about three dozen life jackets. Federal officers are now pursuing the investigation.
