Autopsy shows victim died from smoke inhalation

A Ventura County man has been charged with arson, and murder for a fire which left one of the home’s residents dead.

Prosecutors say on Monday, Branden Lackie set a sofa on fire at his rental home on Talbert Avenue in Simi Valley.

An autopsy shows David Crammond died from smoke inhalation. The 49-year-old man was a tenant in the home.

Lackie hasn’t entered a plea to the charges yet.
