Detectives say man caught on tape stealing items during inventory process

Detectives say a coin and collectables dealer who was supposed to be helping with an inventory at a Santa Barbara pawn shop instead helped himself to tens of thousands of dollars in valuables.

Santa Barbara Police detectives say Greggory Schneider was assisting with the appraisal of gold, silver, and high-end jewelry. But, after the fact the pawn shop reported a large number of items missing.

Detectives say when they reviewed surveillance video, the Los Angeles man was seen putting a large number of the missing items in his backpack.

They got a search warrant and arrested the 45-year-old man, seizing hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash in his possession. Schneider was charged with grand theft from an elder.
