A quick thinking pilot flying a plane which had engine trouble safely made an emergency landing on Highway 101 in the Conejo Valley.
It happened just before 7 p.m. Sunday, on the eastbound 101 in the Agoura Hills area.
The pilot radioed air traffic controllers there was a problem, and then avoided traffic on the freeway to touch down safely near Reyes Adobe Road. The pilot and a student pilot then pushed the plane off the highway to the shoulder. The 101 was shut down for about 20 minutes.
The plane was moved off the freeway on the Reyes Adobe offramp. They had to knock down a sign to get the plane up the offramp. It was then moved into the parking lot of a nearby gas station.
