Memorial Plans Announced For Central Coast Police Officer Killed Serving Search Warrant

Service Will Be Open To Public

A community memorial service will be held for a Central Coast police officer who died in the line of duty this week.

San Luis Obispo Police Detective Luca Benedetti died Monday, when a team of officers serving a search warrant on a burglary suspect was ambushed.

The memorial service will be held next Thursday morning, at the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Performing Arts Center. The 10 a.m. service is open to the public, but people must RSVP online with Eventbrite. People can also visit an outdoor memorial which has been set up on the lawn of San Luis Obispo City Hall.

Benedetti is survived by his wife, and two young children.
