A brush fire burned about 15 acres of land in Ventura County Friday

No homes threatened by Friday blaze

A brush fire burned more than 15 acres of land in Ventura County, but no homes were threatened. The fire started just before 5 p.m. Friday near Coyote Hills Park, in Simi Valley.

Helicopters and air tankers were called in to fight the fire, which was in the hills southwest of the city.

Firefighters got the upper hand in the fire in about two hours, and were close to containment by sunset. There's no word on the cause of the blaze.
