There’s shock in a Ventura County community over the sexual assault, and brutal beating of a 76 year old woman.
Ventura County Sheriff’s detectives say the attack happened in an apartment on Charles Street, in Moorpark.
Deputies were called to the scene early Tuesday morning when neighbors heard screaming, and saw a naked man in the courtyard of the apartment complex. After finding the victim in her apartment, they arrested Edward Ayans of Moorpark. They say he was under the influence of drugs at the time of his arrest.
The 76-year-old victim is reported to be in critical, but stable condition at a hospital. Ayans was booked on attempt murder, rape, and elder abuse charges.
