Trio Arrested In Connection With Santa Barbara County Murders

SWAT Teams Serve Warrants In Carpinteria, Summerland

Three men have been arrested in connection with a double murder on the South Coast.

Santa Barbara Police and Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s SWAT teams served arrest warrants at two locations in Carpinteria, and one in Summerland Thursday.

They arrested Angel Eduardo Varela, Oscar Martin Trujillo-Gutierrez, and Emilo Perez. All three men are from Carpinteria. The charges include murder with special circumstances, and allegations the killings were gang related.

They’re accused of fatally shooting Angel Castillo and Omar Montiel-Hernandez of Santa Barbara January 3rd in Santa Barbara.
