Ventura County has a new County Superintendent of Schools, but he’s not new to the community or to the post. The Ventura County Board of Education chose Dr. Cesar Morales as the county’s new Superintendent.
Morales had been serving as the interim superintendent. He was an Associate Superintendent with the county office since 2019.
Morales was chosen by the board following a nationwide search. He fills the vacancy created by the retirement of longtime superintendent Stan Mantooth last month.
Morales started his career as a middle and high school teacher. He became an administrator in two Southern California school districts. Then, prior to joining the County Office of Education, he served as Superintendent of the Oxnard School District for more than five years.
