Man Arrested For Kidnapping After Car Stolen In Ventura County With Toddler In Back Seat

Search Finds Vehicle, Child Within An Hour

An 18-month-old girl is home, safe with her family after Ventura County Sheriff's deputies say she was kidnapped when a man stole a car she was in.

It started Friday night in Moorpark. Sheriff's deputies received numerous 911 calls about a possible prowler on the 3800 block of Timberridge Road in Moorpark. Deputies headed to the scene learned that a vehicle was reported stolen a few block away, and that a young child was in the rear car seat when it was taken.

Deputies from throughout the county as well as a Sheriff's helicopter quickly launched a search. The vehicle was spotted about 45 minutes in Camarillo.

They stopped the car, and the young girl was recovered unhurt. She was still in her car seat. Jahwi Angeles-Ortega of Oxnard was arrested for kidnapping and vehicle theft, as well as for multiple outstanding warrants.
