Firefighters have knocked down a brush fire which briefly threatened some buildings at a South Coast university.

The fire was discovered at about two Thursday afternoon on the south side of the Cal State Channel Islands campus in Camarillo.

Three campus buildings had to be evacuated.  Ventura County firefighters were able to protect the buildings, and got the upper hand on the nearly four acre blaze in about an hour.

There’s no word yet on the cause of the blaze.
