Frankie Gavin embraces his role as one of the world’s top traditional Irish fiddlers, amid the dominance of pop, rap, and rock in the music industry. Born in 1956 in Galway, Gavin hails from a musical family and displayed prodigious talent from a young age. He learned music mainly by ear and was influenced by legends like Michael Coleman and James Morrison. Gavin’s journey includes winning prestigious Irish music competitions, forming the iconic band De Dannan in 1973, and recording numerous albums both solo and with collaborators. Despite the evolving music landscape, Gavin remains dedicated to the rich tradition of Irish music.

In an all-time record, 14 of the 68 teams in the men's tournament all come from one conference — the SEC. In the women's, UCLA and South Carolina are top seeds. Games tip off this coming week.
