  • Wilshire Hospice Volunteers often tell us how much they enjoy supporting our clients and use words like Uplifting, Satisfied, Privilege, Blessed, Gratifying, Meaningful, Rewarding, Purposeful, Honored, and Peaceful to describe their experience. Just a little of your time makes a huge difference in the lives of our patients, their families, and caregivers. Your presence matters, providing increased quality of life for our Hospice patients. Life is about living up to the very last moment!

Hospice Volunteers provide much needed temporary relief for caregivers in need of a break. Volunteers often provide companionship and emotional support for patients; reading, shopping, light housekeeping, playing cards or board games, listening to music, or writing a letter are just a few of the activities volunteers may offer. But your most valuable gift is simply a listening ear and supportive presence.

Our Volunteer Coordinators will personally guide you through the orientation and training program ensuring you have the best possible volunteer experience. Our accredited training is comprehensive, personal, and flexible and can be tailored to suit your own schedule.

Volunteers are needed in all areas of San Luis Obispo County and the Greater Santa Maria Area. Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) volunteers are a plus.

Wilshire Health & Community Services has been providing not-for-profit, experienced support to local communities for over 75 years.
