A central coast university is teaming up with a major tech company to try to find technological solutions to problems that organizations face.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Amazon Web Services have created the Cal Poly Digital Transformation Hub where they’re helping government, education and nonprofit sectors.

Its director, Paul Jurasin, says the DT Hub is developing technology to help nab human traffickers.

“The technology would help anti-human trafficking organizations to scan thousands of websites for key words that human traffickers use for recruiting. Then we can find out where those ads are coming from and try to stop the human trafficking rings,” he said.

Jurasin says this solution is much more efficient than having individuals scan websites for human traffickers. The solutions from the hub will be placed in the public domain so they can be used by similar organizations across California and the nation.
