With Coronavirus Surging, Governor Recommends Closure Of Ventura, Santa Barbara County Bars

The surge in new coronavirus cases in California has prompted the governor to order the immediate closure of bars in nine counties, and recommend it for six others, including Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.

The biggest county impacted by the immediate closure order is Los Angeles County.  The governor's order calls on Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties to take the same action, but leaves the final decision in the hands of the county health officers.

There's no word yet from Santa Barbara and Ventura County health officials on whether they will take the actions.

As of Sunday, there have been about 211,000 diagnosed coronavirus cases in the state, with nearly 6,000 deaths.
