Autopsy Results In; Man Involved In Gunfight With Santa Barbara Police Killed By Officer Gunfire

Autopsy results confirm that a wanted man involved in a shootout with Santa Barbara Police died from shots fired by the officers. Police serving a warrant on Francisco Anthony Alcaraz Junior May 7th in Santa Barbara say they were met by gunfire.

The officers returned fire. There was a standoff. About three hours later, a robot was sent into the apartment where Alcaraz was hiding, and it was discovered that the 32 year old Lompoc man was dead. Santa Barbara County Sheriff Office investigators say Alcaraz fired a total of six shots at officers. They were unhurt.

Officers fired 58 shots, with four hitting the gang member. Alcaraz was wanted because he was a suspect in a gang related shooting.
