Firefighters spent Wednesday mopping up three brush fires in Ventura County which caused a lot concern, but were stopped before they could damage homes.

The largest of the fires, a 170 acre blaze just southwest of Santa Paula, is now fully contained.  The Cornell Fire began on Monday.  It was mostly confined to the Santa Clara Riverbed.

Then, Tuesday night two fires started off of Highway 101 in western Ventura County, creating a stunning site for thousands of motorists.   The Perkin Fire burned about 50 acres of brush near the 101’s Santa Clara River crossing.  It’s now 50% contained.

And, the third fire, called the Main Incident, was near the Highway 101-Highway 33 interchange in Ventura.  It burned several acres of brush.  It’s now 75% contained.
