Central Coast University Gets Big Grant For Organic Produce, Soil Research

A major company in the organic farm industry has made a major contribution to the agricultural program at a Central Coast university.

Kern County based Grimmway Farms donated $5 million dollars to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.  The money is intended to help expand research in organic food production, and soil health.  The idea is that it will lead to improvements in the organic food industry.

Grimmway supplies more than 65 organic crops to stores around the country, and is the world’s largest supplier of carrots.
