CHP Investigating Bizarre Accident Involving Big Rig, Truck In Ventura County Which Left One Dead

Investigators are trying to figure out why a pickup truck and a big rig travelling in the same direction on a Ventura County highway collided, leaving one person dead.

It happened Friday morning, on westbound Highway 126 at Peck Road in Santa Paula.  A westbound pickup truck was in one lane, and the big rig was in the next lane.  Both vehicles were headed westbound.  For some reason, they collided.

The pickup truck went off the highway, down an embankment, and flipped.  The 53 year old Oxnard man driving the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene.  The big rig was able to safely stop.  The driver was unhurt.
