Woman Lying On South Coast Street Struck And Killed By Car

Authorities are investigating the death of a woman who was apparently struck, and killed by a car while she was lying on a South Coast Street.

It happened at about two Thursday morning on Channel Islands Boulevard in Oxnard.  A car was headed westbound near M Street when it struck the woman.  Despite efforts to save her, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car was unhurt.  He remained at the scene, and cooperated with officers.  Investigators are trying to figure out why the woman was on the ground in the street.

The name of the woman, who was believed to be around 30 years old, hasn’t been released.  An autopsy is pending.
