South Coast Port Gets Major Federal Grant To Improve Security

A South Coast port is getting a big federal grant to beef up its security.

The Port of Hueneme is receiving $1.68 million dollars from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.  The money is intended to help improve the facility's security.

The port’s main gate will be updated, and the facility’s video surveillance system will be modernized. 

The port handles $9.5 billion dollars in cargo annually.  An estimated 15,000 jobs in the region are connect to the port, and port activity.
