Dog Wounded In Officer Involved Shooting On Central Coast

A dog is recovering after being wounded by a sheriff’s deputy investigating what appeared to be suspicious activity at a Central Coast business.

San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s deputies were on patrol in Atascadero late last Monday night when they saw a business with its door wide open, the lights off, and someone loading items into a car’s truck.

When they stopped to investigate, two pit bulls ran from the business towards the officers.  Fearing for their safety, one of the officers fired three shots.  One of the dogs was hit.

It turned out there was nothing wrong taking place at the store.  The dog was taken to a vet, and is recovering from its non-life threatening injuries.  The Sheriff’s Office has offered to pay the vet’s bills.
