Tuberculosis Surfaces At South Coast School; Community Meeting Set For Wednesday

Coronavirus isn’t the only big health concern on the Central and South Coasts. A case of tuberculosis has been discovered at Oxnard’s Rose Avenue Elementary School.

Ventura County Health officials aren’t saying if it was a student or staff member. They’re planning to test those who may have been exposed. TB is a serious bacterial disease, but it’s slow growing and easily treatable. It can be transmitted by coughing or sneezing.

Parents of students at the school have been notified about the situation. A public meeting is planned for six Wednesday night at Rose Avenue School.
