South Coast City Gets New Police Chief

A South Coast city is getting a new police chief, and it’s someone who is already a familiar face in the region. Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Commander James Fryhoff is going to be the new Thousand Oaks Police Chief. Fryoff is currently Ojai’s Police Chief.

He’s been with the law enforcement agency for nearly three decades, serving in role ranging from patrol to investigations. In the past, Fryhoff served as Assistant Chief for Thousand Oaks. Fryhoff will take over the post in January.

He’ll fill the opening created by the retirement of longtime Sheriff’s Office member and current Thousand Oaks Chief Tim Hagel.

The agency provides law enforcement services for a number of cities in the county, including Thousand Oaks and Ojai.
