Containment Up To 60% On Central Coast Brush Fire; Still Holding At 200 Acres Burned

An air tanker makes a drop on the McMurray brush fire in Santa Barbara County Monday.

Containment is up to 60% on a 200 acre brush fire which at one point threatened some ranches on the Central Coast. The McMurray Fire started Monday afternoon off of Highway 101 near Buellton. It closed the northbound 101 for hours, and forced the evacuation of some ranches northeast of Buellton.

But, by Monday night the freeway was reopened, and evacuation orders had been lifted. About 100 firefighters are still involved in firefighting efforts. No structures were damaged. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
