South Coast Agency Buys Office Complex With Goal Of Building Affordable Housing On Site

The Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara bought this 1.34 acres site for $4.2 million dollars, with a goal of developing affordable housing on the site

A government agency bought an office complex on the South Coast which it is eventually hoping to turn into affordable housing. The Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara paid $4.2 million dollars for a chunk of land at 200 North La Cumbre Road, in Santa Barbara.

The 1.3 acre piece of property is currently home to four office buildings. Most of the 12,000 square feet is space is leased to medical tenants.

The agency plans to continue to operate the buildings as office space on a short term basis, but the long term goal is to build affordable housing on the site.

The Housing Authority’s mission is to develop and manage affordable housing for people in Santa Barbara.
