A Ventura County jail inmate has died, and the cause is unknown.
Ventura County Sheriff's deputies discovered an inmate at the county's Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura was having a medical emergency Saturday night.
Deputies started providing first aid, with jail medical personel helping. Ventura firefighters and paramedics also provided emergency support before Alexander Christian Beirne was taken to a hospital. The 38 year old Ojai was pronounced dead about 90 minutes after the medical issue was discovered.
The County Sheriff's Office Major Crimjes unit is investigating to try to determine exactly what happened.
