A South Coast city could finalize a budget this week which includes some major funding cuts. Oxnard is trying to deal with a projected $9.2 million dollar budget shortfall. Proposals include cutting more than two dozen jobs, reducing overtime, and closing the city’s Carnegie Art Museum.
The City Council backed away from some other elements of the plan, which included shutting down a library and a boxing gym in the city’s La Colonia area. The City is looking at using some tax revenue to keep the Oxnard Performing Arts Center open through the end of the year, while effort take place to find an outside contract to take over management of the facility.
The Council meeting takes place at 5 Tuesday night in the Oxnard City Council chambers.
