Some Bus Fares Increasing On South Coast

It’s soon going to cost more to ride a bus on parts of the South Coast. The Ventura County Transportation Commission is raising fares for its intercity bus service.

Beginning January 14th, single trip fares will go from $1.25 to $1.50, and ten ride passes will go from $11 to $13. Unlimited monthly passes will remain unchanged, and for the first time five day passes will be added.

VCTC officials say the hikes are needed to cover increased costs, and come after a series of community meetings. The agency hasn’t increased fares since 2011.

In addition to the fare changes, the VCTC is also making minor modifications to some of its routes.
