A South Coast city is continuing its efforts to deal with the discoloration of some ocean water which alarmed area residents.
Some of the water in the Channel Islands Harbor area started having a brown coloration a few weeks ago. Nearby residents were worried it might be some type of pollution.
The City of Oxnard started a water testing program, and multiple samples over a period of time showed there was no hazard to human health.
Now, the city has installed six underwater aerators at Seabridge Public Marina to improve circulation. The aerators create bubbles visible on the surface, like you see in a home aquarium. But, there is no danger to swimmers or boaters from the bubbles.
The aerators have been used successfully in other parts of the country to improve circulation.
