Restriping Project Going To Upgrade Sections Of Highway 101 On Central, South Coasts

If the lanes on the main highway through the Central and South Coasts start looking a little different to you, it’s not your imagination.

Caltrans is going to restripe more than hundreds of miles of lanes of Highway 101 lanes from Santa Clara County to Ventura County.

The current four inch stripes will be replaced with highly reflective six inch stripes, which are made out of a more durable material. Aside from requiring less maintenance, the new striping is more visible, and is expected to improve safety. Work was already way on the restriping from San Luis Obispo to Monterey County.

Sunday night, work will start at the Ventura/Santa Barbara County line headed north to San Luis Obispo County. Motorists driving overnights on the 101 could encounter the crews, as well as a number of on and offramp closures.
