Montecito Water Getting Chlorine Treatment; Temporarily Unsafe To Use From Tap

The Montecito Water District is trying to clean its water, and water system in the wake of the destructive January 9th flooding.

They are super chlorinating its water, which means it is temporarily unusable by the public.

While much of the district’s service area is under a mandatory evacuation order, some areas are not.

Customers are being told than until further notice, the district’s water shouldn’t be used for drinking, food preparation, or bathing. Officials say super chlorinated water can cause skin irritation, skin burns, and throat or mouth irritation.
