Man Killed When Passenger Train Hits Car On Railroad Track In Ventura Identified

A 73 year old man from the Conejo Valley is being identified as the person struck, and killed when a passenger train hit a car in Ventura County.

Isidro Hernandez died Saturday night when he apparently drove past some rail crossing guards on California Street in downtown Ventura, and stopped on the tracks. His car was hit by a southbound Amtrak train.

Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene. There was heavy fog at the time, which might have been a factor in the accident.
