The Secretary of Labor appeared in Ventura County Thursday to announce a special honor for Ronald Reagan.

Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta was at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley to announce the late president will be inducted into the Labor Department’s Labor Hall of Honor.

As head of the Screen Actors Guild in the 1940’s and 50’s, Reagan led the organization through three strikes.

However, when he was President, he took a tough stance against the nation’s striking air traffic controllers, firing all 11,000 of them and decertifying their union.

The award is given to Americans who take extraordinary steps to improve conditions for workers.
